Two DFI partners short-listed in HealthInvestor competition for Foundation Trust of the Year 14 April 2008

HealthInvestor Magazine named Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Homerton University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as two of the four finalists in the 2008 awards competition. The trusts' winning entries focused on the work they have done with patient involvement.

The Homerton has had previous success with its inclusive work with patients, winning the BT e-Health Insider award for Excellence in Healthcare Information Management, hosting a national patient experience event and in general, raising the profile of the importance of the patient voice in healthcare.

Papworth's patient engagement programme is part of the work that has ranked them as one of the top 20 per cent of hospitals in England. The trust uses Dr Foster Intelligence's Patient Experience Tracker (PET) handsets to better understand the concerns of patients and any potential issues they face. PET is helping the Trust maintain high levels of quality care within the Essence of Care guidelines and has already been used to prove that the trust is providing excellent levels of privacy and dignity. Claire Tripp, Director of Nursing, is leading the project and says that the work they have done has been so informative and useful that they are already looking at ways to expand the programme.

The winners will be unveiled at the awards dinner in June.
