NHS Choices launched on 18 June as a comprehensive health service centred around an informative, colourful, easily accessible website.

Designed to be user-friendly for internet users of all abilities, the website gathered together information that used to be available from many different NHS and health services sources.

Members of the public can now make informed choices about when and where they receive treatment. The website provides information on healthy living, a map of the human body and common ailments and a searchable directory of available services.

To make the information as accessible as possible, the resources in NHS Choices are available on videos and dvds and through GPs and public libraries.

One of the most important aspects of the website is the feedback function, with patients able to rate and comment on their experiences and the organisations at which they were treated. The comments are sent to the trust with the aim of making the NHS more accountable to, and in-touch with, its patients.
