We work with local health and social care organisations to devise targeted marketing strategies to engage the public in better use of local services. Dr Foster Intelligence has particular experience in promoting information to more disadvantaged communities.
Each campaign is targeted using a technique called Health Needs Mapping, a joint product between Dr Foster Intelligence and Experian Ltd. This links socio-economic and lifestyle data (Mosaic) from multiple sources with data on the incidence of illness including hospital episode statistics (HES) and local data sources such as disease registries and GP practice information (where these are of sufficient quality).
The unique twist is that Health Needs Mapping has the capacity to predict not only where at-risk communities live but also how
they live, by adding to the mix information from a range of private sector market research databases. This is key in designing
intervention strategies.
This technique allows the consideration of thousands of variables. For instance you can find out where the at-risk communities are most likely to shop. The lifestyle analysis will also help establish how best to engage with these at risk groups. For example, they may have a high propensity to watch the local shopping channel on cable TV, but not to call telephone advice lines.
In short, Health Needs Mapping allows us to find risk groups and then work out how best to communicate with them.
