Tim KelseyChair of the Executive Board
Dr Foster Intelligence
Tim Kelsey founded Dr Foster in 2000 - the organisation which has pioneered the development of quality indicators in the NHS and overseas. Dr Foster now employs 200 people, publishes information to the general public and supplies analysis to more than 80% of NHS hospitals and primary care trusts. Better use of performance data has led many of these organisations to show demonstrable improvements in clinical outcomes.
Tim has developed an international brand reputation for Dr Foster and has worked with private, public and government clients in the UK and overseas, notably the US and mainland Europe.
Tim has also pioneered the development of effective personalisation strategies for public services. He was recently asked by the UK government to design and develop NHS Choices (www.nhs.uk), the new national information service for the NHS.
He was recently awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution in Healthcare' by Health Investor magazine. In 2007, he was awarded the annual award for Innovation by Laing and Buisson. He is a member of the NHS National Quality Board, a trustee of the Nuffield Trust, a commissioner on the 2020 Public Services Commission, and a member of the advisory board of Warwick University Medical School.
Before Dr Foster, Tim was a professional print and broadcast journalist and worked for a number of national newspapers including the Independent and the Sunday Times.
