Stephen Ramsden is the Chief Executive of Luton and Dunstable NHS Foundation Trust and Director of the National Patient Safety Campaign Director. Stephen attended the July meeting of the Dr Foster Ethics Committee to talk about the challenges of measuring and improving patient safety in his trust and on the subject of Patient Safety and the national campaign he is spearheading. He outlined why it is vital that the leadership take personal responsibility for Patient Safety and tells of his own commitment: "There should be nothing more important to a CEO than saving lives and demonstrating to their staff they are interested in this.
As accountable officers, we should be deeply concerned about the avoidable deaths."
